Our Search for a Coffee Partner

When you wake up in Tahoe, having a good start to your morning is important. The day ahead will bring countless adventures, lots of exploring, and of course, plenty of memorable moments. With that in mind, when we started The Cottages at Old Greenwood, we knew making sure our guests were properly caffeinated would be an important part of their experience. Here in Tahoe, good mornings mean good coffee, so we wanted to partner with a local roastery that embodied the Tahoe spirit.

It didn’t take us long to fall in love with the perfect coffee partner. Just by their name, you can easily see why we chose Drink Coffee Do Stuff. Time in Tahoe is about just that. Waking up, getting a good start to the day, and getting out there to do stuff. Whether you’re golfing at Gray’s Crossing, paddle boarding on Donner Lake, or skiing powder at Northstar California, nothing fuels a day in the mountains like a good cup of Drink Coffee Do Stuff.

Quality and Local Passion

Beyond being local and embodying our shared love of the outdoors, Drink Coffee Do Stuff is, simply put, excellent coffee. Roasted right here in Truckee, you can’t get coffee much fresher than this. Lucky for you, you don’t have to go far to treat yourself to a cup while in-residence at The Cottages. We have stocked the Cottage kitchens with the DCDS Party Wave Blend. Featuring notes of ripe raspberries with a chocolate syrupy finish, this medium roast is sourced from Ethiopia and is absolutely delicious. Brew yourself a pot with the provided coffee maker and you’ll be well on your way to an excellent day in Truckee-Tahoe.

About Drink Coffee Do Stuff

There was no question that this would be the home base for Drink Coffee Do Stuff. “We knew we had to launch in Nick’s home of Truckee, California, where his professional snowboarding career had blossomed for a decade,” Laura Lawson-Visconti, one of the founders of Drink Coffee Do Stuff, said of her business partnership with her husband, Nick Visconti.

The pair spent years in the Pacific Northwest mastering the art of creating perfect coffee beverages, doing everything from barista training to roasting apprenticeships, before returning to the Truckee-Tahoe region in 2017. Drink Coffee Do Stuff was an instant hit, with its bold, recognizable monochromatic branding and – more importantly – a delicious and addicting menu that keeps you coming back for more.

Drink Coffee Do Stuff has grown rapidly since their inception, with three brick-and-mortar locations in Truckee, Incline Village, and South Lake Tahoe, and a steadily growing number of partnerships with local establishments. “Our aim was to complete the outdoor lover consumer’s journey by creating a fun coffee brand that inspired people to DO STUFF in the midst of one of the most active communities in the country,” Laura explained. They nailed it, and the impact on the community has been immense. Drink Coffee Do Stuff locations are more like “experience centers” than your average coffee shop, with an interactive atmosphere that is a hub for connection.

Mountain-Sourced, Expertly Roasted

Drink Coffee Do Stuff takes pride in sourcing their coffee from the mountains. Once the beans arrive, they are roasted at 6,000 feet in Truckee, giving each batch of coffee a sweet, smooth flavor. Coffee enthusiasts love it so much that Drink Coffee Do Stuff roasts more than 5,000 lbs of coffee every week.

Drink Coffee Do Stuff sources their coffee from the mountains, and we’re proud to partner with them to bring that same spirit to your Tahoe adventures.
