The Cottages are conveniently located near fantastic dining options, so the winter fun doesn’t have to stop when the ski lifts close. From cozy cocktails in Truckee to delicious bites in Northstar to lakeside libations with alpenglow views, there are plenty of spots to enjoy a meal after a day in the snow.
Downtown Truckee
Nearby charming Downtown Truckee has lots of great options, but one of our long-time favorites is Moody’s Bistro, Bar & Beats in the historic Truckee Hotel. As the name suggests, this spot is known for indulgent dishes, delicious cocktails, and fantastic live music.
If the weather cooperates, gather around one of their outdoor firepits and grab an Adirondack chair to kick back and watch the world go by with a glass of wine or a craft cocktail. Then head inside for Moody’s Famous Tomato Soup and some house-made pasta or the Apple & Farro Salad followed by the Durham Ranch Hanger Steak Frites. Most Thursday through Saturday nights, you can stick around after dinner to catch a local band to keep the night going.
The Village at Northstar
If you’ve spent the day on the slopes of Northstar, why not head to The Village? Your first stop should be the ice-skating rink for some spins around the ice or to kick back for some s’mores (or a cocktail) at one of the firepits surrounding the rink. Or, sneak in some quick shopping at the village’s shops before it’s time for dinner!
For a wine and gourmet food-focused après dinner, we recommend Petra. This elegant après stop is tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the ice rink, offering a relaxed experience whether you choose to sit inside or out. Enjoy wines paired with seasonal small plates or filling entrees like Butternut Squash Ravioli and Moroccan Tagine. Petra’s delicious options make it the perfect place to wind down… or to simply swing by to grab a bottle of wine to enjoy in front of your fireplace at The Cottages.
Après by the Lake
Depending on if you’re making it a romantic date night or a casual après for your whole crew, we’ve got options. For a fantastic date night with sweeping views of the sunset over Lake Tahoe, we recommend Christy Hill. This lakeside bistro is the perfect cozy spot for excellent wines and dishes made from fresh, seasonal ingredients—and they even offer a special Après Ski Menu from 4:30–6:00 pm at the bar.
If you’ve got the whole family in tow, why not dig into some lakeside BBQ? Moe’s Original BBQ is a laidback eatery offering gorgeous views of the lake and mouthwatering meals. From St. Louis Style Ribs to the Smoked Chicken Wings to the Fried Gulf Shrimp Platter, there’s something for everyone.
